In May 2007 Facebook launched their own application platform, opening up an entirely new industry - Social Networking Applications. In the time since then the industry has mushroomed to include thousands of applications developed by people and companies all over the world. Other social networks such as Myspace and Orkut have also launched their own platforms taking the possible market from 50 million users to almost 1 billion worldwide.
Textstream was started in June 2007 to take advantage of the growth of 3rd Party applications on the most popular Social Networking sites - as a result - it is a web development company that specialises in developing interactive applications for Facebook and other similar sites.
Textstream is a business unit of the Fontera group and operates from the same offices as Fontera in SA, the US and the UK. Following on from Fontera's successful strategy, Textstream develops and manages all products from the Cape Town Development Center.
